Tip #8: Hydrate! ... (it even rhymes!)

Going along with fueling your body, hydrating is also very critical. 

Did you know that some nutritionists suggest drinking half your body weight in ounces? That is a lot of water. Also, the old “golden rule” used to be 8 cups of water everyday. It doesn't matter which water intake “rule” you follow, the point is to hydrate. 

Get a fun water bottle, possibly with a straw, and fill it up and keep it next to you all day. A straw will make it easier to drink. A new trend we have seen is that water bottles are being sold with motivational words and time stamps. For example, 8am: ready set drink, 10am: you got it! 12pm: keep drinking! 2pm: halfway there! and so on. You can also put fruit or veggies in your water to give it an upgrade. Lemons, limes, cucumber, mint, oranges make your water taste more refreshing and will get you drinking more of it!  

It has been said that drinking water can reduce the intensity of anxiety. According to the Calm Clinic, “Water also appears to have natural calming properties. Drinking water can be soothing, and often your body will benefit from the added hydration during times of intense stress.”

If you are not properly hydrated your body and brain could have a hard time trying to focus. When you are dehydrated you could experience symptoms like headaches, fatigue and dizziness. 

Drinking water is important in so many different ways. Health reasons and for personal reasons you should be incorporating water into your day... and a lot of it!
